Resort Show 2010 - Balenciaga, Cant Stop Loving it

I'm a little down today, maybe because of the bad weather, humid and hard to breath. But the moment I review Balenciaga's resort, it did make me feel better. I had though Nicolas Ghesquiere, the designer, means to make his girl a modern city girl, as small jackets, slim pants cutting close to the body are so urban elements, but the garden floral peeping out from the neck, the waist, not to say to the total floral lamp-shade little dress, which obviously give a clue of garden girl. Ghesquiere is such a genius. I just can't stop loving his resort, totally.

The big bows on the waist and flowers around the neck, oh and the cuff, are fantastic.

The leather woven boots with toes peeping out are so lovely, especially matching them with the lovely layered floral dresses. Of course, a slim belt is a must-have.

Mini skirts or lamp shade? You decide it. Hehe just joking. Of course these gals are dressing skirts instead of lamp shade and full of floral. They are so summer.

Except daring designs full of florals, Balenciaga doesn't stop making dresses that's easy to manage, and will stick to the wardrobe for quite a while and keep you chic. Above pieces are those ones that you could throw them on effortlessly one minute before you went out.

Resort Show 2010 - Celine

As for me, Celine tells a story about sharp lines and nude instead of anything else in the resort collection. Nude - the hottest as well as sexiest color this season, combines with sharp lines - might be the last one to be used in big proportion on womenswear design as you know feminine is famous for the curves instead of sharp line, to develop a cool but strong sexy style.
It's hard to imagine but once you see the dresses put on the model, that's enough said. I'm not familiar with this model, but I think Celine did a great job to choose her as the resort model since the moment I see the photos. Maybe she's not sexy enough with gorgeous curves, but that's why she sets off Celine's collection so well!
Designer Phoebe Philo, just returning from her family life and presenting this 2010 resort for Celine - which is also her first collection after comeback, means to make this collection 'stand the test of time'. And you know what? I think she just tell the truth.

A game of nude and lines. Neat, crisp, no more details cause it's unnecessary.

Here comes more colors other than nude, light blue, marine blue and brick red. Also play the game of lines, but in colorful way.

This might be recognized as the most complicated design, detailed as drooping fabric but still shaping in lines with the help of soft texture. See, even the ankle-strap sandals with sturdy mirrored heels echo with the theme and play a game of lines.

Resort Show 2010 - Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Saint Laurent's Stefano Pilati seeks inspiration from the seaside, though we have no beachy feel at first glance of the resort collection. Different from his SS 09 season obsessed with black, white, and shades of gray, orange, green, purple, yellow show up in silky glitter.

This season, designers indulge in shoulders and are eager to show their inspiration there. Yves Saint Laurent's Stefano Pilati inspired from seashells and put them on his girls' shoulder. What do you think of this?

Anti-tradition

Over and over again we were told never make yourself over layered especially the legs, it'll make yourself look like cut into pieces. We just wish we could make our legs a little longer, longer, and longer, best if it looks like the girls on the runway. That's why high heels never out. But here Stefano Pilati breaks the rule and makes legging blend with cropped pants. What is he doing?

Round, everywhere

Aside from seashell, round is also Stefano Pilati's favorite and can be seen everywhere. The round cut on the shoulder showing a little sexy, the shawl like collar, or the huge round accessories on the neck and wrist.

Resort Show 2010 - Stella McCartney

Be patient girls, you are not entering wrong post different from the title. It IS about Stella McCartney's resort show. Only the designer herself is so good at promotion and has started the game ahead, so, we put it here.
Female designer has an edge on promotion over her male peers by nature, wearing the design by designer herself is an unarguably big voice, especially when the female designer happens to be good at promotion as well as processing good taste on her dress. Stella McCartney is lucky to have all the edges above. No matter The Model as Muse Embodying Fashion Costume Institute Gala in NYC, or The Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition Preview Party in London, or at the Opening of New Contemporary Art Centre in Venice, Stella McCartney just made every effort to display her resort collection in advance, from stunning lace jumpsuit, to floral dress with bold shoulder, and white playsuit.

Ok, seems we've given such a long prologue. Let's back to our focus today.
Even in resort collection, Stella does not give up her big woman style, that's why handsome suits with bold shoulder - sharp or round, are full of it and displays a sophisticated style.

Stella makes gorgeous but wearable jumpsuits. At the first glance, the 1st would be ordinary (even so we couldn't deny it almost fits for everyone, I mean, girls), but soon you will be caught by the floral glitters in the same color. My favorite is the 2nd blue one with awesome thick belt - simple, neat, but the belt, it's the belt tells good taste on details of the girl whoever wears it. As per the third, contains the trends of bold shoulder, pleat and ankles out. It's a good option for girls interested in super shoulder but don't wanna make it exaggerating and lose feminine.

Jacket is must-have for big woman, which defines sophisticated looks. And certainly the focus lies on the shoulder, sharp or round. I hate super shoulder as it ruins feminine and easy to be ridiculous. But luckily Stella gives a perfect balance to stick to the trend without making it ridiculous. Good try.

Stella gives her dress pocket and designs it as focus. Yes, big woman tends to put their hands into pocket, even wearing little black dress. Oh I just love them so much.

Resort Show 2010 - Thakoon

'I wanted everything to have a turban-y feel,' said Thakoon Panichgul, the designer.
Keep the point above in mind, you will feel easy to understand those twisted, knotted and draped threading the collection. Artistic painting in neon or black-and-white is busy and blends well with twisted details on the waist. Skinny still appears to make pleated tops stand out. The soft, almost sheer cardigans in lavender or lemon yellow that could be thrown over anything sport a feminine, comfy and sexy look. Not to say the beige jumpsuit in same texture.
Thakoon Panichgul really hits my heart by the texture game, which makes me wanna reach out and touch. That must also be pretty attractive to boyfriends to touch and protect.

Resort Show 2010 - Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs presents a sequel of his SS 09 collection, and continues his endeavor to define his garden girls. Really, I love Marc Jacobs' idea as what else better we could do other than playing in the garden and enjoy flowers, grasses, sunshine, or even doing some labor work. That will be fun, enjoyable, and surely will do ourselves good.
Back to the collection, it also inspires the same picture above. Absolutely you will look great attending garden party in those spaghetti-strapped short tiered dresses. Boucle-tweed jackets are festooned with beaded bits and pieces, which make you look like surrounded by blossom. As per the golden lame, you must be familiar with the final look if you happened to catch the pictures of Kate Moss at this year's Costume Institute gala in New York.

Resort Show 2010 - Burberry Prorsum

"I've been liking things where you can't quite understand what you're looking at," said Christopher Bailey.
If that's what the designer chasing for, then he makes it. At least I'm confused at what I'm seeing in this resort collection. I tried to find clues to demonstrate it and fine these. Burberry Prorsum falls in love with puffy stuff, which appears on the edge of trench, jacket, and shoulder. Words like cloudy, seductive and relaxed are used by Bailey to describe this collection. If the colors could be described as cloudy, then the gauze draped dress is qualified to be seductive. Also, pleated pants with rolled cuffs, sandals blending with socks are continuous from SS 09.

Resort Show 2010 - Zac Posen

Honest, I did not catch many signs of resort in Zac Posen. Maybe he wants his girls stay in parties or social occasions instead of going out in resort season, as the whole collection is full of party frocks, no matter day or night.
Black and white sheath is neat cut that is always one of the easiest ways to define glamorous looks. Besides, black and white are also made into tire thread print, and hard-to-believe stunning, especially the tire-tread-print strapless evening look with a full skirt and vivid orange underskirts. Luxurious peony prints and candy colors crash with faille taffeta. Pleated satin pants are interesting, but I guess only girls with fab legs like a model could give it a try. Sigh~ What if I had a beautiful leg like this!!

Feminine, wearable, and comfy, all these words jump out after my first sight of Donna Karan resort show themed 'Manhattan Tango'.
